Summer Show: TOMFOOLERY: Lots of Silly Words and Far Too Much Music
**************************************************************************
Tom Lehrer is one of the preeminent satirical songwriters of the 1950s and 1960s, with a well-known body of work, including such gems as The Vatican Rag, National Brotherhood Week, The Masochism Tango and Poisoning Pigeons in the Park. He can be seen singing his own songs on a variety of youtube.com videos. The revue consists of almost all of the songs he wrote plus a well-crafted set of commentary on both his music and popular culture performed by the cast between the numbers. There are solos, duets, several trios and a number of full-ensemble pieces, providing plenty of opportunity for each performer to shine!

This is a small ensemble production with roles for 3 men and 2-3 women. We embrace non-traditional casting. Performers of all ethnicities and ages (18 and older) are encouraged to audition. All we ask is a major dose of tolerance, as Tom was truly an "equal opportunity offender" and rarely missed a chance to skewer everyone in the room regardless of race, creed or color!

Where: Santa Clara Players theater, 1511 Warburton, Santa Clara
When: Sunday, March 22 and Monday, March 23, 7-9:30 PM (you only need to attend one day)

Callbacks: Saturday, March 28, 10 AM to 1 PM

Preparation (Song): Be prepared to sing an upbeat or comic song (preferably from the musical theater genre). Please bring sheet music for your song. We will provide a piano accompanist. We prefer that you not sing any Tom Lehrer songs at the initial auditions, but please feel free to look at other "comic genre" songs including those from musical theater (such as Avenue Q, Spamalot, comic songs from non-comic musicals, etc.) and general comedy/satire songs (such as Weird Al Yankovich, Mark Russell, Capitol Steps, etc.) However, almost any song except very slow/sad ballads would be a reasonable choice.

Preparation (Movement): No dance requirement for the initial audition. If you are called back, please come to callbacks prepared to move and learn a short dance step and then perform it as a group and/or solo. Please wear (or have with you) appropriate clothing and footwear. There are places to change on-premises.

Preparation (Dialogue): No monologue preparation is required, but please be ready to cold read one or more short monologues or scenes from the script.

Production Dates: June 12-28, 2015

Rehearsal Dates: Music and dance rehearsals begin mid-April

Compensation: non-AEA only, please, but small stipends are offered

What To Bring: Please have your availability information for all dates through June 28, 2015, a performance resume if you have one, a headshot if you have one (but don't worry, we will take a digital picture of you at the audition), sheet music for your song (in the proper key) and of course, all of your talent!
